Who Are Guidance School Counselors?

For those of you who may not know, the title “guidance counselor” has been replaced with “school counselor.” The American School Counselor’s Association encourages this new term to be used, as it reflects a school counselor’s role more accurately.

School counselors actively work to improve student success for ALL students academically, behaviorally, and career-wise. They provide direct and indirect services to ALL students to promote academic achievement, identify and close gaps, help plan for postsecondary options, and the list goes on. Click on the following images to learn more about the school counselor’s role!
